- Stegosaurus:When compared to the lowly human, most dinosaurs look like formidable animals. Those with a set of four or more long spikes at the end of their tails were especially considered as formidable enemies to any who encountered them. The Jurassic predators common to the period knew to give Stegosaurus and its thagomizer tail a wide berth. The business end of Stegosaurus' tail didn't present a problem for humans, however, since our ancestors and Stegosaurus missed each other on the historical timeline by over 140 million years.
