[Answer] What was the name of the chimpanzee co-host of NBC's "Today Show?"

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

What was the name of the chimpanzee co-host of NBC's "Today Show?"

  • J. Fred Muggs:NBC's long-running "Today" show got off to a rocky start. Its first year's ratings were low and showed little sign of getting better. In an effort to save the show, NBC took the drastic step of adding a co-host. Dave Garroway, the show's host, introduced his chimpanzee co-host J. Fred Muggs in 1953. Not only did the addition of the chimp boost the show's ratings, it earned NBC around $100 million. Morning TV programming in the early 1950s primarily targeted children, and Muggs appealed to that particular demographic. Good news for NBC but things weren't all fun and games on the set. Garroway was jealous of Muggs to the point of intentionally irritating the chimp. Muggs was known for epic temper tantrums and disruptive behavior. Source: AllThatsInteresting.com
