- Led Zeppelin:When Led Zeppelin took the stage in 1968 for their first live show, it was in a refurbished gymnasium in Gladsaxe, Denmark. They were billed at "The New Yardbirds" at that time, as the band was supposed to be a relaunch of the blues rocker band that imploded a few months before. It was guitarist Jimmy Page, the only member of the former band, that pulled together his New Yardbirds and funded their Scandinavian tour out of his own pocket. The four men who came together, mostly through chance meetings and a-friend-of-a-friend scenarios, became Led Zeppelin in a small basement in London's Gerrard Street in August of 1968 and launched their Scandinavian tour that launched them into superstardom.
