[Answer] The co-founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus is responsible for the mascot of what university?

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

The co-founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus is responsible for the mascot of what university?

  • Tufts University:In 1882, P.T. Barnum, the co-founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, bought a massive 6-ton African elephant named "Jumbo." The popularity of Jumbo at Barnum's circus ushered in a period known as "Jumbomania." The elephant's giant size even contributed to the emergence of the term "jumbo" as a synonym for "large." Jumbo's reign came to an end in 1885, when he was accidentally killed by a freight train. Barnum had Jumbo's hide stuffed and donated it to Tufts University in Massachusetts. It remains both the school’s mascot and the inspiration for its nickname, the "Jumbos."
